ProductDB derives factual information and original content from many different sources with varied licensing conditions. We distinguish factual information and original content as follows:
Factual Information
Factual information contains no originality in its selection or organisation. There is typically only one objective value or form of expression. Examples include product codes, names, identifiers and links to websites.
All factual information in ProductDB is made available under the ODC Public Domain Dedication and Licence (PDDL).
Original Content
Original content covers information that is subjective or a matter of opinion. Examples include descriptions of products and classification schemes. ProductDB does not assert any additional copyright or other proprietary rights over aggregated content.

- ProductWiki content is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). For more information see ProductWiki policies.
- MusicBrainz content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 License (CC-BY-NC-SA. For more information see MusicBrainz licensing.
- OpenLibrary content is not explicitly licensed for reuse, but the Internet Archive (operators of the OpenLibrary project) does not assert any new copyright or other proprietary rights over the material in the database. Contributions by third parties to the OpenLibrary are made under the Creative Commons Universal Public Domain Dedication (CC0 1.0 Universal). For more information see OpenLibrary licensing.
Properties
ProductDB uses distinct properties for factual information and original content. It is possible to determine the data that is licensed under the PDDL by selecting only those properties that contain factual values. This table is a non-exhaustive categorisation of properties:
